International Volunteering/Work Placement Scheme |
| ˇ@ |
2007 sees the start of an exciting new
partnership between 'The Nesbitt Centre' and a UK based gap-year
organisation, 'Time For God', otherwise known as 'TFG'. Established
in 1965, TFG is one of the largest and longest running Christian Gap
Year organisations in the UK. The Christianity aspect of the organisation is modern, youthful and flexible.
Whilst TFG volunteers are Christian, their placements are not
'evangelical'; their religious beliefs are manifested in their
caring and committed attitude to 'making a difference'. By
dedicating quality time to others, they will grow, not only
professionally and personally, but spiritually. Their experiences,
both challenging and rewarding will help them explore their
Christian faith in a 'real life, day to day' context.
TNC and TFG have worked very closely to determine exactly how our
members would benefit from the TFG volunteers.
The decision to have two female volunteers aims to further enhance
the already successful 'overnight' respite programme at our
residential facility. The volunteers' work will provide our ladies
with mature, thoughtful and sensitive support to further develop and
enhance their self esteem and independent living skills.
